About the business division
The Water Utilities Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to the UK and Ireland’s water and wastewater challenges. We work at the forefront of ensuring safe water supplies for future generations, preventing urban flooding and improving the health of our rivers and coastal environments. Our multidisciplinary teams deliver advisory services, feasibility studies, and detailed design throughout the full project life cycle.
Overview of the role
We are looking for a Senior Wastewater Network Modeller to join our team of network modellers, engineers and project managers, delivering projects across the UK. The role offers the opportunity to progress a career, mentor others and contribute to internal innovation, external conferences, strategic direction and business development.
Key responsibilities and duties include:
* Deliver wastewater infrastructure projects of varying sizes
* Collaborate closely with clients to ensure they understand model outputs and processes
* Mentor and train graduate modellers and support their professional development
* Specify and manage flow surveys
* Lead check or technical role on model build, verification and optioneering projects
* Perform complex modelling tasks where required
* Contribute to and check technical reports and presentations
* Develop technical calculation outputs when needed
* Opportunity to project manage infrastructure projects, including programme, commercial performance and technical excellence
Candidate specification
Essential
* Team player with the ability to develop relationships at all levels
* Collaborative experience with clients as delivery lead, planning and delivering wastewater modelling projects of varying sizes
* Strong communication skills
* Strong working knowledge of InfoWorks ICM and GIS packages
* Chartered with a relevant professional institution (e.g. ICE or CIWEM)
* Excellent spreadsheet data‑analysis skills (e.g. MS Excel pivot tables or PowerBI)
* Programming skills in VBA or Python considered advantageous
* Project Management experience and skills advantageous but not required
