SEN Teaching Assistant (Secondary) – Tameside Location: Tameside Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Secondary) Daily Rate: £89 - £100 per day Contract Type: Full-time (Monday to Friday), Term-time only Start Date: Immediate or September 2025 start available Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs? We are working with a welcoming secondary school in Tameside seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support students aged 11–16 with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), and ADHD. The role is predominantly 1:1 support, but will also involve small group work and in-class support. Key responsibilities include: Delivering tailored interventions based on individual EHCPs Supporting students to access a broad curriculum offer Helping pupils develop social, emotional, and academic skills Managing and de-escalating behaviour when necessary using positive reinforcement Assisting with transitions between lessons and regulating emotions during social times Working collaboratively with the SENCO, teaching staff, and external agencies Ideal Candidate: Previous experience supporting SEN students in a secondary setting Calm, patient, and nurturing approach to behaviour management Knowledge of ASC, ADHD, SEMH strategies A DBS registered on the Update Service (or willing to apply) What we offer: Competitive pay, starting from £89 per day Access to Teaching Personnel’s CPD Academy (free and discounted training courses) Dedicated support from a specialist consultant Opportunities to secure a permanent contract directly with the school This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring SEN teachers, educational psychologists, or experienced teaching assistants looking to develop further.
