Position Overview
Finning is the world's largest Caterpillar dealer. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer experiences and innovative solutions. We are looking for a Buyer to join our Procurement team on a 9‑month fixed‑term contract. The Buyer will play a key role in ensuring that business needs for goods and services are met efficiently and in line with procurement policies.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage requisitions and ad‑hoc procurement requests in line with agreed service levels.
* Source goods and services to deliver best value, balancing cost, lead time and business priorities.
* Support departmental KPIs, including Spend Under Control, Under Contract, Preferred Suppliers and Programmes of Work.
* Collaborate with Category Managers to support category strategies and execute subcategory tenders.
* Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and select the most suitable procurement methods.
* Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure business needs are consistently met.
* Maintain procurement systems such as SAP Ariba and contribute to process improvements.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a buying or procurement role.
* Experience of engineering procurement and project buying.
* Progress towards or completion of MCIPS is desirable.
* Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and remain calm under pressure.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
* Experience with SAP Ariba is a distinct advantage.
* Ability to interpret business needs and develop clear specifications and RFx documents.
* A collaborative mindset and creativity to solve problems and drive value.
