Salary: £70,000 - 75,000 per year Requirements: We require proven experience in a senior Network Monitoring or Network Engineering role within an ISP, managed services, telecommunications, or large-scale infrastructure environment. We require strong hands-on experience with VictoriaMetrics in production environments. We require solid experience configuring and administering Nagios monitoring platforms. We require practical experience with streaming telemetry technologies including gNMI, gRPC, Telegraf, and gNMIc. We value exposure to AI/ML-driven monitoring, analytics, or anomaly detection solutions. We require a strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and optical networking technologies. We require the ability to work autonomously and deliver against project deadlines and milestones. We require excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. We require strong attention to detail with a focus on reliability, resilience, and operational excellence. We consider experience supporting FTTH or dark fibre network deployments desirable. We consider scripting and automation experience, ideally using Python, desirable. We consider familiarity with Grafana, Prometheus, or similar observability platforms desirable. We consider knowledge of SNMP, NetFlow/IPFIX, and syslog-based monitoring environments desirable. Responsibilities: We design and implement end-to-end monitoring solutions across new fibre infrastructure deployments. We build and maintain streaming telemetry pipelines to provide real-time network visibility. We configure, optimise, and manage VictoriaMetrics environments, including ingestion, retention, and performance tuning. We deploy and support Nagios-based monitoring solutions, alerting workflows, and service health checks. We implement AI-driven analytics and anomaly detection capabilities to improve fault identification and operational efficiency. We develop and maintain Grafana dashboards and visualisation platforms to provide actionable operational insights. We commission monitoring solutions across fibre nodes, OLTs, and Layer 1-3 network devices. We work collaboratively with Core Network teams to ensure monitoring aligns with our evolving network architecture. We establish baseline performance metrics and SLA-driven alerting thresholds. We continuously improve monitoring platforms, tooling, and operational processes. We produce high-quality technical documentation and operational procedures. We create runbooks, escalation processes, and support documentation. We facilitate knowledge transfer to Network Operations and Engineering teams. We provide regular project updates and contribute to project reviews and planning activities. Technologies: AI Grafana Support Network Prometheus Python TCP/IP gRPC More: We are partnering with a leading network infrastructure provider undergoing a significant fibre network expansion programme and are seeking an experienced Network Monitoring Engineer to support the successful delivery of this initiative. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract, offered remotely, with a pro rata salary of £75,000. It is a hands-on engineering role with major project ownership and immediate impact, giving us the opportunity to deliver monitoring and observability solutions across newly deployed fibre infrastructure and network equipment. You will work closely with our Network Operations and Core Network teams in a collaborative engineering environment, with exposure to modern monitoring technologies, streaming telemetry, and AI-driven analytics. last updated 23 week of 2026
