Working on the front door of a Minor Injuries Unit is not for everyone. It is pressured, demanding and comes with challenging behaviours as people are often scared or injured. As the first point of contact you will be accountable for booking patients into the unit using the PAS system, ensuring all patient details are correct and updated on the system. Undertake all the administrative and clerical duties to support the functioning of the department and the area is maintained to a high standard. With that you will have excellent communications skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure. As a key member of this team, you will see a varied workload, which can be challenging however being able to multitask in an efficient manner whilst maintaining a caring and helpful attitude underpins everything you do to make a difference to your team and the patients that rely on us to care for them.
The shift pattern is 4 days on 4 days off and the hours are 0800 am - 1600 pm and 1600pm - 2200pm, this does include weekends and bank holidays
Main duties of the job
* Register all new patients, collecting and checking details input all data onto the Trusts, Patient Administration Systems (PAS) generating the appropriate documentation.
* Register Ambulance patients being received in ED, collecting all data required
* Ensure the accurate and timely update of PAS including admission and any changes to patient details of all patients attending ED as required.
* Scan all documentation for admissions ensuring they are showing on the Clinical Portal before being released from the area.
* To answer telephone, in a polite and courteous manner being the first point of contact for queries.
* To receive all visitors to the departments in a professional, polite and friendly manner.
* Collate information for all overseas visitors, inform supervisor and email Overseas Visitors Inbox.
* Use electronic SCR (Summary Care Record) to ensure GP's and postcode information is accurate.
* Assist in the training of new staff referring back to the ED Team Leader if they require further one to one support.
* Participate in the Major Incident Procedure.
* To attend all mandatory training and subsequent refresher courses as and when required.
* Process requests for ED referral appointments for clinics.
* The post works on a 24/7hour rotational shifts resulting in working without supervision for a period of time in the working week.

* *GCSE grade C of above in English language and Maths or equivalent or equivalent work
* *Good level of Education
Experience
* *Substantive experience in a customer care environment.
