Job description
Our client, a leading defence sector business unit specialising in Weapon Systems, is seeking a dedicated Procurement Professional to join their team on a contractual basis in Barrow. This role is essential in supporting strategic procurement activities within the defence industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing procurement processes to ensure the timely acquisition of goods and services
2. Liaising with suppliers to negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions
3. Conducting market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities
4. Ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and defence industry regulations
5. Monitoring supplier performance and addressing any issues or discrepancies
6. Collaborating with internal teams to understand procurement needs and provide effective solutions
7. Maintaining accurate records of procurement activities and providing regular reports
8. Assisting in the development and implementation of procurement strategies
Job Requirements:
9. Experience in procurement, preferably within the defence sector
10. Strong understanding of procurement processes and supplier management
11. Excellent negotiation and communication skills
12. Ability to conduct market research and supplier evaluations
13. Familiarity with procurement compliance and regulatory requirements
14. Proficiency in maintaining detailed records and preparing reports
15. Good organisational and time management skills
16. BPSS clearance (required)
Contract Details:
17. Duration: 6-month contract
18. Location: Barrow
19. On-site requirement: 1-2 days per week
