Housing Caseworker
Are you a passionate Housing Caseworker looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for a Housing Caseworker to work in a homelessness service in Wakefield.
Pay Rates: £13 - £16 per hour Umbrella rates
Information the Role: Successful candidates will be offered the working hours of 6:30am to 3:30pm and 2:30pm-10:30pm working Monday – Sunday for 13 weeks initially.
What you will be doing:
Manage a caseload of 8–9 residents currently living in temporary accommodation.
Provide housing-related support, including helping residents understand and navigate the housing system and apply for permanent tenancies
Conduct one-to-one keywork sessions focused on tenancy sustainment, budgeting, goal setting, and personal wellbeing
Support residents to apply for and manage housing benefits, Universal Credit, and other entitlements
Assist residents in registering with GPs and other essential services (e.g. banks, councils, support agencies)
Regularly check in on residents' rooms to ensure they are maintaining their accommodation in line with agreed standards
Build positive relationships with residents, providing consistent emotional and practical support
Use psychologically informed and trauma-informed approaches to support individuals with complex needs
Maintain accurate, up-to-date case notes, assessments, and support plans using internal IT systems
Signpost to external services as needed, including health, mental health, substance use, training, and employment support
Contribute to a calm, safe, and respectful environment within the scheme
Work closely with housing associations, local authorities, and other agencies to secure successful move-on outcomes
Specialist knowledge skills and experience:
Experience working in a supported housing or hostel environments with people affected by homelessness and rough sleepers
Strong knowledge of housing pathways, housing benefits, tenancy rights, and local authority processes
Skilled in tenancy sustainment support, including income maximisation, budgeting, and tenancy applications
Experience working with individuals with complex needs, including mental health issues, trauma, and substance misuse
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a non-judgmental and person-centred approach
Confident delivering one-to-one support and conducting regular welfare and tenancy checks
Organised, reliable, and able to manage and prioritise a small caseload effectively
Competent in using IT systems for case management, reporting, and communication
Compassionate and resilient, with a genuine desire to help people move forward and rebuild their lives
Able to work as part of a team within a busy, fast-paced supported living scheme
Essential skills:
Solid experience in a housing support or floating support role, ideally working with clients at risk of eviction or homelessness.
Full Uk driving license
