Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant for an on site role in Perry Barr. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys getting out on the shop floor, collaborating cross functionally, and driving real impact on business performance.
You'll be the financial point of contact for all site operations, working closely with production, procurement, and leadership. Your focus will include management accounts, budgeting & forecasting, cost control, AP/AR, stock management, and process improvements. You will also play a lead role in cost accounting, from job costing to overhead allocation, helping teams understand financial performance and maximise efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, cash flow, reconciliations) for the site
* Analyse variances vs. budget/forecast, provide insight, and recommend actions
* Develop and optimise cost accounting processes (job/product costing, margin analysis)
* Support site budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modelling
* Manage capex process and asset register; maintain audit-ready records
* Review inventory, WIP, and material costing; ensure accurate financial reporting
* Assist with month-end/year-end closing and audit preparation
* Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance data, controls, and reporting
* Partner with production, procurement, and non-finance stakeholders to communicate results
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls
* Oversee AP, AR, and credit control activities
* Support ERP/system enhancements (e.g., Excel, NetSuite, PowerBI)
Ideal Candidate:
* Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent)
* Demonstrable experience in a manufacturing or factory environment
* Strong costing, management accounting, and budgeting skills
* Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting systems; experience with ERP tools preferred
* Excellent communicator, able to translate financials for non-finance teams
* Proactive self starter, hands on, and always looking to improve processes
* Strong attention to detail, analytical, and commercially focused
