Overview
This is a new post and the appointee will join a team of Gastroenterologists. The team currently consists of 8 permanent and 1 long-term locum Consultant. The Gastroenterology team has responsibility for both inpatient and outpatient care. The appointee will take part in the on-call rota for the Upper GI bleed (1 in 8). The Gastroenterology team does not do GIM at DVH.
We are seeking to appoint a Consultant in Gastroenterology with broad expertise in the management of general gastroenterological conditions. The post primarily focuses on general gastroenterology; however, there is flexibility to support and develop any sub-specialty interests the successful applicant may wish to maintain. An interest in Nutrition and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is particularly desirable. Skills in advanced endoscopy, including Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), would be considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
Detailed job description and main responsibilities will be formalised in a Job Plan. A formal Job Plan will be agreed between the appointee and their Clinical Director, on behalf of the Medical Director, within three months after the commencement date. It will be signed by the Clinical Director and will be effective from the commencement date of the appointment. The Job Plan for the first three months will be agreed between you and the Directorate. The Job Plan will then be reviewed annually, following the Appraisal Meeting.
