Job overview

The Maternity Services are seeking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic neonatal nurses to join our friendly team caring for mothers and babies in the neonatal unit. The post holder will work under the supervision of the lead nurse to achieve quality care for mothers and babies. The job will entail working in the neonatal intensive care unit and offering some transitional care support on the postnatal ward. Offering advice and support to mothers and their babies over a range of issues from infant feeding to information about safety in the home. Within the neonatal unit the focus of care will be on those babies requiring special care, high dependency care and intensive care.

The successful applicants will need to demonstrate:

1. Registered Nurse or Midwife registration
2. With evidence of completion of a nationally recognised Intensive care and High dependency care of the new born qualification eg QIS
3. Excellent Communication skills both written and verbal
4. An understanding of customer care
5. Ability to manage their work load on the allocation of a midwife or nurse
6. Good team working ability
7. Basic computer literacy

Qualifications

Essential criteria

8. NMC Registered
9. Qualified in Speciality ( Neonates )

Desirable criteria

10. Post Qualification in Speciality (Neonates) experience
11. Resus Council NLS

Experience

Essential criteria

12. Experience post QIS within a Neonatal Unit
13. Experience caring for babies requiring ventilation
14. Experience in stabilising the sick and preterm infant

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria

15. Knowledge or experience of delivering FiCare

Desirable criteria

16. Sensory beginnings or FINE
17. Venepuncture and cannulation skills
