Job Summary
:
You will liase between Client Construction, Engineering and Project Management teams, design partner organisations as well as sub-tier supply chain. to provide guidance on executing constructability plans. You will lead or advise on construction design decisions, interdisciplinary reviews, and project construction planning, value engineering and industrialisation modern methods of construction.. You will use your expertise, as well as reach-back into wider Bechtel organisation, to identify improvements to Client construction strategies.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Serve as the programme-wide construction functional lead, ensuring construction expertise and insight informs all stages of design and planning.
2. Lead constructability reviews and provide input to optimise construction sequencing, logistics, and methodology.
3. Coordinate with engineering and design consultants to ensure construction requirements are reflected in design deliverables.
4. Support the development of site layouts, temporary works strategies, logistics and phasing plans for construction in a live operational environment.
5. Assist in developing overall construction execution plans, staffing strategies, and resource estimates.
6. Support with shaping delivery execution planning
7. Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain to develop construction packaging and delivery strategies.
8. Ensure health, safety, and environmental (HSE) considerations are embedded in all aspects of design and planning.
9. Review and monitor implementation of robust quality control plans during design and construction phases.
10. Maintain awareness of design evolution, scope changes, and their potential impacts on construction methods, costs, and schedules.
11. Contribute to cost estimates, budgets, risk assessments, and progress reporting for construction scope.
12. Provide guidance and mentorship to assigned project and field personnel, promoting a culture of safety, collaboration, and excellence.
13. Establishes a design/field engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Project Engineer including agreement on engineering deliverables.
14. Coordinates with design on constructability issues
15. Reviews project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule
16. Ensures the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into all aspects of construction operations.
17. Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements
18. Responsible for staffing decisions, performance appraisals, and pay reviews
Education and Experience Requirements:
Basic Qualifications
19. Bachelor’s or master’sdegree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
20. Advanced knowledge of construction methods, procedures, and sequencing for civil and airfield works.
21. Proven record of managing multi-disciplinary teams in design and construction environments.
22. Experience in delivering projects within live operational facilities.
23. Strong knowledge of HSE requirements and proven track record of promoting a safe working culture.
24. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
25. Demonstrated ability to provide sound technical leadership and problem-solving under pressure.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Preferred Qualifications
26. Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration.
27. Experience in aviation, airfield, or major transportation infrastructure projects.
28. Knowledge of UK construction and safety regulations, including CDM requirements.
29. Experience with NEC contract administration and project delivery frameworks.
30. Prior experience in planning and executing brownfield projects in live environments.
