Job Title: Registered Nurse
The post holder will:
1. Work closely with the Healthcare team and multi-disciplinary team members to deliver primary healthcare at HMP Cardiff, maintaining high clinical standards and staff development.
2. Be responsible for staff's professional development, acting as a mentor and preceptor, and participate in the VBA process for reviewing Band 3 and 5 staff.
3. Take charge of the department as required, and carry out care independently, supervising staff and ensuring a safe working environment.
4. Be flexible in clinical duties and provide cover across specified areas.
5. Develop expertise in a specialty area such as asthma, diabetes, or Blood Borne Viruses, and lead nurse-led clinics including patient assessments, treatments, and referrals.
6. Provide excellent patient/prisoner care in partnership with other professionals, following the Fundamentals of Care, and develop individual care plans.
7. Offer clinical advice to staff and ensure nursing documentation complies with NMC and UHB standards.
8. Maintain patient/prisoner dignity, confidentiality, and participate in nursing audits.
9. Contribute to team ethos and standard approaches to nursing care, using evidence-based practice.
10. Assist in setting care standards and collaborating with the team to meet patient needs to high standards.
Desirable: Ability to speak Welsh. Both English and Welsh speakers are encouraged to apply.
