Buyer – Residential Groundworks & Civil Engineering

We are working on behalf of a well-established and highly respected civil engineering and residential groundworks contractor to recruit an experienced Buyer to join their growing team.
Our client has built a strong reputation delivering high-quality infrastructure and groundworks packages for leading UK housebuilders. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to strengthen their commercial team with a proactive and detail-driven Buyer.
The Role
As Buyer, you will play a key role in ensuring materials are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and delivered on time to support multiple live projects.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
* Sourcing and procuring materials in line with project demands
* Placing orders and managing supply schedules
* Issuing daily order sheets and coordinating with site teams
* Tracking deliveries and providing accurate ETAs
* Liaising with commercial and operational teams to ensure smooth delivery
* Coordinating logistics such as haulage, muck-away, concrete, and plant movement
* Supporting site set-ups and project mobilisations
* Assisting with mentoring junior team members where required
About You
We’re keen to speak with candidates who:
* Have experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within construction (ideally groundworks or civil engineering)
* Are highly organised with strong attention to detail
* Can manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
* Have excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Are confident working with suppliers and internal stakeholders
