The Deputy manager would take joint responsibility with the Registered Manager, for the day to day running of the Residental Home. Promote a caring environment for service users through high standards of professional practice and ensure that each service user receives a high quality of person centred care appropriate to their individual needs. Implement and maintain quality assurance on the requirements of CQC and the local authority in relation to Care Standards.
Role and Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
* Manage the day to day running of the Care Team and all aspects of Care and manage the Home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
* Supervise and work closely with the staff team to ensure that exceptional care is delivered, and all care plans are updated using person centred care approach.
* Lead the practice and process of administration of medication for all residents, ensuring the home policy and external rules and regulations are followed
* Advocate and lead on the Infection Control Champion for the home, ensuring Infection control is well maintained in line with Lavender House, Public Health England and Government Standards.
* Manage the staffing rostering and workforce planning alongside the Registered Manager
* Delegate Staff activities for care and ancillary operations
* Ensure that quality assurance and audits are carried out frequently. Support the policies of the Home in Fire Prevention and Security Measures and attend fire training.
* Ensure that care plans are person centred and meet the needs of the residents. Also ensuring that they are up to date so that all residents Care and social needs are met.
* Ensure that complaints, safeguarding alerts, incidents and accidents are dealt with in a professional manner following company policies and procedures and where necessary local authority procedures. Ensure that appropriate report of same to statutory and registered bodies are undertaken in a timely manner.
* Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with external bodies, such as GPs, District Nurses, Social Services Departments etc
* To ensure that all documentation and care and support delivered is compliant with relevant legislation and inspection bodies.
* Actively encourage the social welfare and wellbeing of residents, contribute to the development of activities and new ideas for the stimulation for residents to improve the quality of life.
* Facilitate a structured, safe, harmonious and caring environment in the home that fosters the physical and emotional well-being of the residents and staff; emphasis should be placed on team building and individual growth and respect for all.
* Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of CQC essential standards and all legislation relevant to a care home
* Undertake networking activity within the local community with a view to developing new contacts with key people
* Focus on continuous improvements
