Our highly successful and Outstanding school in the London borough of Redbridge is seeking a dedicated and experienced Art Teacher with a specialism in Textiles to join our thriving Art department and make a real difference to the artistic development of our students across all Key Stages, particularly at GCSE and A-Level.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Expert Teaching: Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and effective Art lessons with a focus on Textiles, catering to the diverse learning needs of our students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
* Student Progress: Monitoring, assessing, and tracking student progress in Textiles, providing constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies where necessary.
* Curriculum Contribution: Contributing to the development, implementation, and review of the Art curriculum with a specific focus on the Textiles strand, ensuring alignment with examination board specifications and promoting innovative practices.
* Assessment and Examinations: Preparing students for GCSE and A-Level Art examinations with a focus on Textiles, ensuring accurate and timely assessment practices.
* Resource Management: Managing and maintaining specialist textile equipment, materials, and resources within the art studios.
* Extracurricular Involvement: Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote Art and Textiles within the school community (e.g., art clubs, textile workshops, exhibitions).
* Collaboration: Working collaboratively with colleagues within the Art department and across the wider school to foster a vibrant and creative learning environment.
* Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and keep abreast of contemporary developments in textile arts and education.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* A degree in Art and Design with a significant focus or specialism in Textiles.
* Significant and successful experience teaching Art with a focus on Textiles across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 (GCSE and A-Level).
* A strong understanding of the Art and Design curriculum, particularly the Textiles components at GCSE and A-Level, and assessment requirements.
* Excellent pedagogical skills and the ability to differentiate instruction, including the effective use of specialist textile techniques and processes.
* A passion for textile arts and the ability to inspire students and foster their creativity in this medium.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
* A commitment to the safeguarding and well-being of students and the promotion of visual arts within the Redbridge context.
