 
        
        Responsibilities
Ensure the effective and timely procurement and delivery of the correct materials to achieve the build programme and specification.
Receive/compile material schedules to produce purchase orders.
Obtain quotations and designs from selected suppliers.
Compare quotations and negotiate the most favourable rates and terms for business needs.
Discuss key comparisons and those over £75k with the Materials Manager.
Place orders with suppliers at agreed term rates, in conjunction with and ahead of the site programme to avoid production delays.
Qualifications
 * Business Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain qualification, or CIPS equivalent.
 * Proven experience (5+ years) as a Senior Buyer or in a similar role for a residential house builder.
 * Demonstrable understanding of cost management, price of housing products, general construction and how materials fit into dwellings.
 * Proven track record of building strong relationships with suppliers and a good network of contacts.
 * Excellent negotiation skills.
 * Excellent IT and numerical skills.
 * Able to use Microsoft packages and familiarity using Excel and spreadsheets.
 * Ability to influence and build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.
