Overview
The post-holder will be responsible for providing a catering and cleaning service within the Central Production Kitchen (CPU) and outlying catering outlets. The post-holder will assist with the production of all meals within the CPU and other outlying catering units within the department. The post-holder will also be required to provide a catering service in accordance with the Food Safety Regulations and Food Hygiene Regulations. The main base of work will be on either campus, City Hospital, Queen's Medical Centre or Ropewalk House; however, there may be occasions to cover another area.
Responsibilities
* Adhere to Food Safety procedures and record HACCP data; receive, quality check and store deliveries; monitor and rotate stock.
* Food Production – preparation according to standard recipes; support food production for the catering team; portioning of foods; sealing, labeling, chilling and blast freezing of food; ensure patient special dietary requirements are followed.
* Food Service Preparation – receive/unload/clean/store meal trolleys; load meal trolleys in preparation for each meal service; deliver food to wards and departments as required.
* Cleaning – maintain high cleaning standards in the CPU and other catering units (walls, floors, doors, surfaces, gullies/drains, fixtures and fittings); perform deep cleaning tasks; replenish cleaning materials; report maintenance issues; empty bins and dispose of waste; operate wet scrub machinery; strip and clean slicing machinery; use and clean deep fat fryer as required.
Qualifications
Essential
* Good basic level of secondary education
* Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent experience/training
* Knowledge of advanced food hygiene processes
* Knowledge of cleaning/hygiene COSHH procedures
Experience
* Previous experience of working in a customer/patient focused environment
Desirable
* Experience of working with individuals who have special diets including texture-modified food
