Conservation Officer Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council Grade 6 (Spinal Column Points 19 – 24) £31,067 – £34,314 Full Time Permanent Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work as part of a team of conservation and planning professionals. Bromsgrove and Redditch are located in rural north east Worcestershire. Bromsgrove has an historic market town surrounded by a number of attractive historic villages and smaller settlements. Redditch, although a new town, has an interesting Victorian core, and a variety of historic buildings in its rural hinterland The proximity to the Birmingham conurbation has resulted in a number of development pressures. There is therefore plenty of interesting work to occupy conservation professionals. Across the two Council areas there are over 650 listed buildings, 14 conservation areas, and numerous other heritage assets. Assisting the Principal Conservation Officer your role will involve, working on a varied caseload of planning and listed building consent applications, assisting in the designation, appraisal and management of existing and new conservation areas, and working with strategic planning officers in producing conservation polices and site appraisals. Initially, a major focus of this role will be compiling and updating the local heritage list. A relevant qualification in Historic Building Conservation, Planning, Architecture, or Surveying is essential. Membership or eligibility for membership of the IHBC is desirable.
