Overview
We are looking for passionate and experienced Paramedic to join our established and friendly team at Glastonbury Surgery.
The role offers a varied and structured working day, with a mix of same-day appointments and home visits to the registered population. You will work within a wider multi-disciplinary team under the guidance and clinical supervision of GPs.
The role is a 30 hour week with a flexible pattern (Mon – Fri) to be discussed with the successful candidate. The post is employed through a West Mendip Primary Care Network contract and working 30 hours at Glastonbury Surgery.
The successful candidate will be supported with a comprehensive induction and ongoing training and development tailored to their needs.

Main duties and responsibilities
* Undertake structured surgeries working in an autonomous role including the management of patients presenting with new problems or exacerbation of chronic disorders.
* Engage in the planning and delivery of patient home visits, including acute visits and management of chronic medical problems in house-bound patients.
* Undertake the supervision of triage by admin staff and take responsibility for quality and training.
* Liaise with and advise the nurse lead to ensure most appropriate use of resources.
* Be a training and mentoring resource for peers and hosted trainees.
* Responsible for the collection and presentation of data that will lead to development of the service.
* Promote the appointment system within the Practice, working as part of a same-day service supported by a Doctor for guidance and consultation.

Job description and responsibilities
Job title: Paramedic (Advanced Practitioner)
Location: Glastonbury Surgery
Accountable to: GP Partners & Lead Nurse
Main duties and responsibilities:
* Assess and triage patients, including same-day triage, and provide definitive treatment or refer as appropriate.
* Advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management and signposting to community or voluntary services.
* Supervise triage by admin staff and take responsibility for quality and training.
* Include capabilities to perform specialist health checks, ECGs, other results interpretation, and pathological specimen collection as required.
* Support anticipatory care plans and lead certain community services (e.g. monitoring blood pressure and diabetes risk in elderly in sheltered housing).
* Provide same-day home visits for registered patients as agreed at daily clinical meetings.
* Maintain accurate health records and documentation; ensure alignment with practice protocols and registration processes.
* Prescribe, issue and review medications in line with policy, directives, NICE guidelines and local pathways and within scope of practice; support patient adherence.
* Deliver care for undifferentiated or complex cases integrating drug- and non-drug therapies.
* Promote health and apply self-care principles; support patients to adopt healthy lifestyle changes.
Clinical governance and professional responsibilities
* Follow protection procedures and lone worker policies; report accidents and incidents; contribute to audits and data collection.
* Adhere to confidentiality, safeguarding, information governance, health and safety and other organisational policies.
* Record patient information accurately using EMIS and SNOMED codes; manage clinical and administrative tasks; attend practice meetings.
* Participate in policy review and development in coordination with NHS England and local commissioners.
Personal and professional development
* Maintain lifelong learning through courses, journals and reflective practice; keep a CPD portfolio for revalidation.
* Complete and maintain independent and supplementary prescribing qualifications; complete the paramedic primary care roadmap (First Contact Practitioner).
* Adhere to HCPC and College of Paramedics codes; engage in research and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements
Qualifications: Advanced Clinical Practice Masters; HCPC registration; non-medical prescribing; FHEQ level 7; evidence of verification against the paramedic primary care roadmap.
Experience and skills: Experience managing a designated caseload; ability to write clinical notes; familiarity with Microsoft and GP practice systems; strong communication and teamwork skills; full UK driving license with vehicle access.
UK Registration: Applicants must have current UK professional registration.
