The Governing Body of St Mary’s RC Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and strategic-minded School Business Manager to join our happy and supportive team.
St Mary’s is a successful two-form entry school in Newport with 410 children currently on roll. We are a school where children are enthusiastic, happy, and demonstrate exemplary behaviour, and we are proud to have recently received excellent inspections from both Estyn and the Catholic Inspectorate.

The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a School Business Manager to be a key part of our leadership structure,
Key responsibilities include:
•Financial Management: Robust budgeting, monitoring, and reporting using FMS, SIMS, and BMS to ensure long-term sustainability and value for money
•Leadership: Line managing our site, cleaning, office, and midday teams.
•Operations & Compliance: Taking the lead on Health & Safety, HR administration, and maintaining the school training matrix.
•Administration: Overseeing the school office team to provide an effective, customer-friendly reception and support service.
About You
We are looking for someone with relevant school or office experience who is ready to add to our welcoming environment. You will be well-organized, efficient, and calm under pressure. Whether you are an established SBM, an ambitious SSO or a highly effective office manager with experience in finance looking for the next step in your career, you must be passionate about providing an excellent support service to our children, staff, and visitors.
