The Role

As a Fabrication Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. As a Manufacturing Engineer - Fabrication, within Mission Systems team you’ll be part of an international company that’s continually innovating. Our aspirations are big – and you’ll help make them possible.

Day-to-day, you’ll work on building both current and future defence systems within launch and handling. Your work will contribute to shaping the future of submarine capability within defence. Utilising our track record of innovation, you’ll continually develop your knowledge and expertise in all things manufacturing too.

* Act as the product owner for a range of fabrications, both simple and highly complex.
* Provide technical expertise in the development, launch, and support of manufacturing methods for heavy fabricated modules.
* Maintain product support throughout its manufacturing lifecycle, liaising with various production, procurement, and engineering stakeholders.
* Support the estimation and design of new, innovative designs ensuring they are suitable for manufacture.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based at Ashton Vale, Bristol.

Essential experience of the Fabrication Manufacturing Engineer

* Considerable, proven experience in fabrication and plating processes.
* Ability to understand and estimate complex fabrication and assembly processes from 2D drawings and 3D models.
* Computer literate and able to pick up new software.
* Understanding of various work holding options (inclusive of bracing) and the design of innovative fixture methods.
* A background in manufacturing engineering is advantageous.
