About the Role
Nottingham City Council is seeking a dedicated Tree Preservation Officer to manage and enhance the city's tree population. The successful candidate will provide expert arboricultural advice, oversee the application and enforcement of Tree Protection Orders (TPOs), and contribute to the sustainable management of Nottingham’s urban forest.
This role involves conducting site visits, assessing tree health, processing TPO applications, and engaging with the community to promote the value of trees. The Tree Preservation Officer will work collaboratively with various departments, external partners, and the public to ensure the protection and well-being of the city's trees.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
1. A full UK driving license
2. Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, or a related field, or equivalent Level 6 qualification
3. At least three years of experience in urban arboriculture, including TPO management and planning support.
4. Arboricultural knowledge including tree risk assessment methods, common pests and diseases and British Standards BS5837 and BS3998
5. Experience of writing reports and presenting to a range of audiences
6. Ability to influence, persuade and negotiate positive working relationships that command the confidence of key partners and stakeholders
7. Drive and motivation, ability to deliver against challenging objectives.
8. Ability to be creative, to be able to identify problems and work to create solutions.
