The role
Would you like to join a growing multi-disciplinary team within the Electrical Engineering Group (EEG) at Babcock Energy & Marine?
We currently have several vacancies for Senior Electrical & Electronic Design Engineers at our sites in Plymouth, Bristol, and Rosyth.
As a Senior Electrical & Electronic Design Engineer, you will have the support of a large team of electrical and electronic engineers to support, learn from, and collaborate with, sharing best practices and enabling your professional growth.
Day to day, you’ll be:
* Responsible for Electrical/Electronic aspects of marine system design.
* Integrating practical electrical, electronic combat, and automation product solutions within disciplines and defining interfaces with others constructively and mechanically.
* Providing electrical & electronic design support by preparing and checking design documentation, reviews, estimates, and schedules, including support for tender responses requiring design input. Supervising, planning, and controlling work to meet time, cost, and quality targets.
* Developing Electrical/Electronic engineering design solutions across various platforms throughout the Engineering Lifecycle, including validating the integrity and performance of new system designs within their operating environments.

This role is full-time, 36 hours per week, with hybrid working arrangements: 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior EC&I Engineer
* High level of expertise in electrical and electronic design, problem-solving, and solutions development within your specialist area. Significant experience in engineering calculation, analysis, and system integration, with an in-depth understanding of electrical design.
* Experience in UK naval marine shipbuilding projects or defense-related design is advantageous but not essential. Experience in other industries such as facilities, Oil & Gas, or Aviation is also relevant.
* Experience working in a defense or high-safety integrity environment.
* Experience across all phases of the engineering lifecycle and with configuration control systems.
Qualifications for the Senior EC&I Engineer
* Degree-level qualification or HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline, with substantial experience.
* Membership in a relevant professional institution (e.g., RINA, IET, IMechE, IMarEst) and working towards or holding Chartered or Incorporated status, or significant demonstrable engineering experience capable of registration with the Engineering Council at CEng level.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
