Directorate Support Officer

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard‑working, organised Directorate Support Officer to join our team working in the Emergency and Acute Medicine Directorate based at the Emergency Department, University Hospital of Wales.
As a key point of contact in the Senior Management Team, the successful candidate will support the Clinical Director/Acute Care Physicians and maintain cross‑organisational communication and scheduling. Responsibilities include minute‑taking, collating paperwork, ensuring timely distribution, and contributing to projects. Strong typing, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills are required. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential.
The role involves contact with staff, patients, Police, and external agencies. It requires confident communication, professionalism, and a friendly approach. Confidentiality, self‑motivation, and the ability to prioritise tasks under tight deadlines are essential.
Main duties
* Provide efficient, comprehensive directorate support and administrative duties for the Emergency and Acute Medicine directorates, maintaining high standards.
* Support the Directorate Management Teams and lead nurses.
* Liaise with and schedule meetings for staff, working with the coordinating team.
* Use IT systems for data entry and report generation.
* Liaise effectively with other UHB admin and clinical staff, communicating with staff, patients, and relatives to answer queries and resolve concerns.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome to apply.

Qualifications
* Good standard of general education with at least 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including English.
Experience
* Administrative background.
* Experience working in an office environment.
* RSA III.

Salary
£28,819 to £31,626 per annum, pro rata.
