About The Role
This role is based at Lancaster Police Station. Due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle are considered essential requirements.
As An IDVA Working On Operation Provide You Will
* Work with the Police safeguarding team to identify high risk victims of domestic abuse.
* Check internal systems to see if victims are known or open to internal services and liaise with them.
* Conduct joint visits with the police to victims at serious risk of harm, providing independent information about their rights and options.
* Assess needs and develop a bespoke safety and support plan.
* Provide information and advocacy around the criminal justice process.
* Liaise with internal and external agencies to keep victims safe and address their needs.
You Will Need
* IDVA accreditation and/or relevant experience supporting victims of domestic abuse
* Understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on victims and families
* Knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management
* Understanding of safeguarding issues and legal responsibilities
* Knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies
* Experience of partnership working
* Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize
* Strong crisis management skills
* Good communication, negotiation, and advisory skills (written and verbal)
* IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Case Management systems
