Job Overview A 1 year contract for a speciality doctor working in gastroenterology Following a period of training and shadowing the post holder will hold 2 x clinics and up to 2 x endoscopy lists per week Work under the supervision of Gastroenterology consultants to provide inpatient cover on our wards, including Reviewing inpatients cared for by another speciality whose team have requested gastroenterology input Acute inpatient endoscopy Participate in the GI bleed rota Regular commitment to outpatient gastroenterology clinics and /or hepatology clinics. Most of our clinics are face to face but there is also capacity for phone and video clinics. Airedale as a trust is renowned for its expertise in telemedicine. Main duties of the job Attend regular endoscopy audit and business meetings. Input into endoscopy training for our MDT colleagues where appropriate. Participating in managing referrals to gastroenterology from primary care and other specialities – triage of referrals, advice and guidance etc (full training will be provided). Extension of contract also possible at same grade if both applicant and hospital in agreement to continue. In terms of providing cover from an upper GI Bleed perspective; there is a 1 in 7 on call. There is no commitment to the General Medicine on call rota. Participate in research, audit and service development within the department and support undertaking of clinical trials as required.
