Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Finance Manager to oversee the preparation of management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for taking data from the trial balance level and transforming it into insightful financial reports to support decision-making. This role also involves leading and developing a small finance team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Management Accounts
* Prepare monthly management accounts from trial balance level, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
* Perform variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance.
* Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Budgeting & Forecasting
* Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads.
* Develop rolling forecasts and financial models to support strategic planning.
* Monitor budget adherence and provide regular updates to senior management.
Cash Flow Management
* Prepare and maintain short- and long-term cash flow forecasts.
* Monitor daily cash positions and manage working capital effectively.
* Liaise with banks and financial institutions as required.
Team Leadership
* Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
* Oversee day-to-day operations of the finance team, ensuring deadlines are met.
* Conduct performance reviews and support professional development.
Compliance & Controls
* Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
* Support external audit processes and liaise with auditors as needed.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
* Proven experience in a similar finance role, ideally within a mid-sized organisation.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
* Proficiency in financial systems and Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
* Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
