Job Overview
At Care in Mind our homes are always a hub of activity and energy where young people can feel safe and staff enjoy coming to work. The role involves working with young people to promote independence through support with education, household tasks, and general life skills. You will also update online care records, complete medication administration, and maintain the general upkeep and tidiness of the 5‑bed home in Denton’s Green. Our residents have a variety of mental health diagnoses including personality disorder, disordered eating, complex post‑traumatic stress disorder, and self‑harm strategies. Many are preparing to transition into the community. In addition to daily living support you will assist with meal preparation, food shopping, self‑care prompting, medical appointments and facilitate activities such as shopping, swimming, meals out, youth clubs, cinema trips and support with hobbies like dog walking, painting, yoga, camping & bushcraft, and gardening. Previous care experience is not essential; full training and ongoing support are provided.
Responsibilities
* Update online care records.
* Administer medication and complete related paperwork.
* Support residents with daily living tasks, meal preparation, shopping, and self‑care.
* Assist with medical appointments and maintain a safe environment.
* Maintain the home’s general upkeep and tidiness.
* Plan and support activities outside the home.
* Attend training sessions and support meetings on weekdays.
* Work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
* Apply basic IT skills to complete forms, use an online care system, and write emails.
Qualifications and Skills
* Full manual UK driving licence.
* NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent.
* Good written communication skills – ability to write accurate reports.
* Good verbal communication skills – attentive listening.
* Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
* Calmness in emergencies and ability to support others during difficult situations.
* Experience working with young people who have mental health needs.
* Teamwork experience.
* Understanding of the challenges faced by young people.
