Job Summary
The Terex Materials Processing Division’s Crushing Technology Team is at the forefront of designing the next generation of crushers for the Powerscreen, Finlay, Evoquip and MPS ranges of mobile, wheeled, static and semi‑static crushers, as well as identifying opportunities to develop and improve existing products. Reporting to the relevant Lead Engineer, the role will support a variety of engineering tasks, including design, testing, manufacturing integration and customer support. The successful candidate may also work across all crusher products from time to time under the direction of the Group Engineering Manager – Crusher Technology.
Responsibilities
* Research concept ideas using mathematical modelling to determine whether new developments and innovations will work and be cost effective.
* Work with teams across models to produce fully specified manufacturing packages, including Engineering BOMs and drawings.
* Support all NPPD teams with tasks ranging from detail drawings to structural analysis and optimisation.
* Attend design reviews to present design ideas and critique alternative solutions.
* Follow Group standards in FMEA, DFM, prototype development and field testing.
* Follow Group engineering standards and associated IT systems to ensure effective global management of released engineering data.
* Consider manufacturing cost through improved design and consultation with production, purchasing and suppliers.
* Develop expertise across the range of machines to support the manufacturing business.
* Conduct / support on‑site trials to prove new concept developments and ensure reliable release to production.
* Ensure current products meet safety, function and reliability standards under supervision.
* Drive standardisation of components and subassemblies within product lines.
* Support global after‑sales teams where technical input is required.
* Investigate and address customer complaints in a timely manner.
* Monitor and work to deliver agreed business objectives in accordance with the Terex Talent Management system.
* Perform any other duties or projects as defined by the Engineer Manager or Director of Engineering.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
* At least 3 years’ experience in heavy equipment or machinery design.
* Sound 3D CAD skills (preferably Pro Engineer/CREO).
* Working experience with PDM/PLM systems.
* Experience with Finite Element Analysis is desirable.
* Working knowledge of Metallurgy, Welding and Casting Methods, Hydraulic Systems, Mathcad.
* Membership of an industry‑related professional body would be advantageous.
