What You'll Be Doing
As a senior member of the team, you'll take ownership of both production excellence and technical leadership, including:
* Setting up, programming, and operating CNC and manual milling machines
* Interpreting technical drawings and executing precise machining operations
* Ensuring equipment is calibrated, maintained, and running efficiently
* Conducting quality inspections using precision measuring tools
* Troubleshooting technical issues and driving machine performance improvements
* Monitoring production to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery
* Completing key documentation (work orders, inspection reports, maintenance logs)
* Collaborating with engineering and production teams to optimise processes
* Mentoring junior technicians and supporting team skill development
* Leading process improvements to boost productivity and reduce cycle times

What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Strong experience in a machine shop / precision engineering environment
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Expertise working to tight tolerances across various materials (steel, aluminium, etc.)
* Experience programming, setting, and operating CNC machines
* Qualifications in engineering (Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC) or equivalent experience
* Familiarity with controls such as Heidenhain, Mazatrol, or Ultimax
Desirable:
* CAD/CAM knowledge
* Lean manufacturing / 5S experience
* Experience producing bespoke or one-off components
* Crane lifting certification
