Functional Skills Tutor – SEN & AP Provisions (NG1 Area)
Link3 Recruitment are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Functional Skills Tutor to work across a range of SEN (Special Educational Needs) and Alternative Provision (AP) settings within the NG1 area. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced tutor who is passionate about supporting young people with diverse learning needs and helping them progress in Functional Skills English and Maths.
About the Role
In this role, you will deliver high-quality Functional Skills sessions to small groups or individual learners, tailoring your teaching to meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities. You will work collaboratively with school staff and support workers to create a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
This position offers flexible working hours, making it ideal for tutors seeking part-time work, varied timetables, or the ability to work across multiple provisions.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver Functional Skills English and/or Maths sessions to learners in SEN and AP settings.
* Plan engaging, differentiated lessons suited to individual targets and needs.
* Assess learner progress, maintain accurate records, and provide constructive feedback.
* Adapt teaching styles to support a range of learning difficulties and behavioural needs.
* Work collaboratively with provision staff to ensure learner engagement and success.
* Maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment in line with safeguarding requirements.
Requirements
* A recognised Functional Skills teaching or tutoring qualification (Level 3 or above).
* Experience working with SEN or AP learners is highly desirable.
* Strong behaviour management and excellent communication skills.
* A proactive, flexible, and patient approach to supporting young people.
* Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) registered on the Update Service.
* Right to Work in the UK (to be verified during the compliance process).
