Teaching Assistant – Make a Real Difference Every Day

Here at R.E.A.L. Education, part of the wider Aurora Group, we're excited to welcome a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our small, nurturing Mansfield sites. If you're passionate about helping young people reconnect with learning and rediscover their confidence, this is a role where you can truly change lives.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to help every young person re‑engage, rebuild and reach their full potential. Relationships sit at the heart of everything we do, and we pride ourselves on creating safe, supportive environments where learners feel seen, valued and understood.

A Learning Experience Like No Other

At R.E.A.L., education is personalised and flexible. You'll support learning through:

1. One‑to‑one sessions
2. Small group work
3. Larger vocational settings

Who You'll Be Supporting

Our curriculum is wonderfully diverse and you'll work with children and young people aged 7 to 19, many of whom may be “lost to learning” or “hard to place”. We specialise in creating personalised pathways for those who struggle in mainstream settings, ensuring they receive the encouragement, structure and opportunities they deserve.

4. A Role Full of Variety and Purpose
5. No two days look the same. You might be:
6. Supporting a young person one‑to‑one
7. Helping deliver creative, hands‑on sessions
8. Working out in the community
9. Encouraging learners to build confidence, independence and essential life skills
10. Every day brings new challenges, new breakthroughs and new moments that remind you why this work matters.

Skills and Experience Required

You don't need to be a highly experienced Teaching Assistant to be successful in this role. If you have experience working with children or young people (paid or voluntary), we can provide the right environment and training for you to thrive.

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

11. Ability to motivate and inspire children to believe in themselves.
12. GCSE Maths and English (minimum Functional Skills Level 2).
13. A proactive, can‑do mindset with the ability to think creatively and adaptively.
14. Willingness to take advantage of our excellent free training opportunities (e.g. Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) if not already achieved.
15. Ability to promote independence, positive behaviour, and personal development.
16. A creative approach that enables you to tailor learning activities to meet individual needs.

There is a need to be able to travel between sites within the specified locality to support and engage with young people as required. Having a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred for transporting them to various locations.

How to apply?

Please complete an online application form in full, remembering to include all employment and education details.

Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment safeguarding checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Aurora Group is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

The Aurora Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young adults in our care and is a disability confident and equal opportunities employer.

This advert could be taken down at any point in time without prior notice if the position is filled.

Please note that candidates that are shortlisted might be subject to an online search.

Safeguarding Statement

bksb is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and expects all staff and volunteers to understand and share this commitment. We have a shared commitment to develop a culture of respect, where discrimination is not tolerated. We welcome all applications, including those from under-represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
