Bradford City Academy is seeking a committed and driven Part-Time Academy Sport Science Lead (9–16) to deliver and oversee the physical development programme for players in the Foundation Phase and Youth Development Phase. Working under the guidance of the Head of Sport Science, this role is vital in ensuring age-appropriate, evidence-led training that supports the long-term athletic development of our young athletes.
Purpose and objectives:
- Lead the design and delivery of the physical development curriculum for players aged 9–16.
- Plan and deliver pitch- and gym-based physical development sessions, aligned with coaching objectives.
- Implement growth, maturation, and physical testing protocols in line with EPPP standards.
- Conduct regular physical testing and monitoring (e.g. anthropometrics, movement screens, fitness testing).
- Manage and interpret player data, providing insights to coaches and MDTs on physical trends and development.
- Collaborate with coaches to integrate physical development into football sessions.
- Provide individualised support and programming based on player needs and stage of development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all testing, training, and individual player plans.
- Report regularly to the Head of Sport Science on progress, concerns, and development opportunities.
- Contribute to the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) discussions and player reviews.
Other requirements:
- Maintain a good understanding of the culture and values of Bradford City Football Club.
- Work within and adhere to all Academy policies and procedures.
- Develop positive working relationships with key internal stakeholders including players, parents and staff.
- As requested, undertake all other reasonable duties that support the Academy.
About The Candidate
Skills and qualifications:
- BSc in Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning, or related discipline.
- Experience working with youth athletes in a sport science/S&C capacity.
- Valid Driving license.
- A satisfactory disclosure from an enhanced DBS.
