Responsibilities
* Assist residents with personal care tasks, including washing, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
* Support residents with meals and hydration, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met.
* Promote residents’ independence and wellbeing through meaningful engagement and social activities.
* Observe, record, and report changes in residents’ condition or behaviour to senior staff promptly.
* Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment within the care home.
* Work collaboratively with other staff, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care.
* Follow all care home policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory standards (e.g., RQIA requirements).
* Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and respect for residents’ rights at all times.
* Participate in mandatory training and ongoing personal development.
Skills and Qualifications
* Able to demonstrate a compassionate, patient, and understanding approach to care.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Flexible and committed to providing high standards of care.
* Knowledge: Awareness of the needs of older people and/or individuals with dementia.
* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or working towards).
* Experience working in a residential or nursing home setting.
* Knowledge of RQIA standards and health & safety regulations.
