Two Hospital Site Managing Directors - Hull University Teaching Hospitals and Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals

Humber Health Partnership is seeking to strengthen leadership to drive improvement in its five hospitals. Therefore, the Trust is wishing to appoint two Hospital Site Managing Directors, one for Hull University Teaching Hospitals and one for Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals. These posts will report to the Group Chief Delivery Officer but will be part of Humber Health Partnerships senior leadership team.

These roles will have responsibility for the day to day running of the hospitals, ensuring the delivery of high quality care for our patients and the communities we serve. The successful individuals will currently be working at Board level in a large acute provider or at regional or national level.

Main duties of the job

The Hospital Site Managing Director will be responsible for the leadership and management of their respective hospitals, responsible for patient safety, clinical and operational performance, financial management and workforce. The position will play a key role in the implementation of the organisation's improvement plan, harnessing the skills and expertise of our clinical staff to drive it forward, ensuring patient safety and care is at the heart of all the services delivered in the hospitals.

Through excellent leadership, the Hospital Site Managing Directors will enable the delivery of high quality care in line with the organisation's values and behaviours. This means providing the safest patient experience and best possible patient outcomes and within available resources. The postholders and their senior leadership team will work closely with primary care colleagues and local councils, as well as creating a culture of continuous improvement and learning and leading service innovation and transformation in collaboration with our clinical teams.

We see well over a million patients every year with around 356,700 attendances at our emergency departments, 155,000 hospital admissions and more than 1.3 million outpatient appointments. We deliver around 8,100 babies each year and our community services provide vital healthcare to patients in their own homes.

Person Specification


Knowledge, Training & Experience

* Currently working at Board level within an acute provider or at a regional or national level
* Experience of increasing staff engagement and motivation to improve performance
* Proven outcomes in successfully leading services and/or transformational change, including system redesign to reduce clinical risk and assure the highest standards of delivery
* Experience of managing complex problems to successful solutions in fast‑moving environments
* Demonstrable track record of sound financial and operational performance improvement
* Demonstrable experience of working between Board and Ward with credibility at all levels


Communication and Interpersonal Skills

* Ability to foster multi‑professional team working and problem solving
* Ability to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively, and to engage others in the vision
* Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and written
