The role:
The children at this school struggle with their learning due to having difficulties with ASD, dyspraxia, OCD, speech and language disorders and attachment difficulties. Your job as an Autism Specialist Support worker will be to facilitate a positive and engaging learning environment where these students can flourish.
You will either be required to support a student 1:1 or you may be asked to assist students in a small group setting. You will help these children access their learning in ways they may not have been able to before.
As an Autism Specialist Support worker, you will be helping these children reach their academic and personal goals by encouraging involvement in the classroom and in addition become independent learners.
Your daily duties will not only involve supporting the students but also the class teacher. You will ensure a smooth running of the classroom and help with daily activities and lessons. You will become an integral part of the team.
The successful Autism Specialist Support worker:
As a successful Autism Specialist Support Worker you will have some experience working with children who struggle with learning difficulties. You will be confident, committed and passionate about making a difference.
