The role of a Team Leader is to create a purposeful, caring, therapeutic, learning environment for our young people, applying high professional standards of care and support for their social, emotional, behavioral needs, mental health, and learning difficulties.

As a Therapeutic Residential Team Leader, qualities such as decisiveness, high attunement, and consistency will benefit the vulnerable children we care for. Can you inspire your team? Will you use curiosity and empathy to validate a child’s life story? Do you have an approachable leadership style?

Your ability to make key therapeutic interventions throughout the day will guide your team in adopting best practices. Recognizing trauma and understanding how it manifests in children, along with knowledge of child development, will support their recovery, progression, and future independence.

* Work independently within risk assessments, care plans, and behavioral strategies to meet therapeutic goals.
* Help young people develop independent living skills.
* Prepare, implement, and review development programs and personalized care plans.
* Induct new admissions, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued.
* Assist in planning for young people’s transition from the home, balancing risks and opportunities.
* Help young people recognize and manage emotions, understanding their bodily manifestations and experiences.
* Use developmentally appropriate interventions for emotional regulation, considering trauma history.
* Recognize vulnerabilities and behavioral cues.
* Communicate effectively with outside partners and attend reviews and home visits as needed.
