Job Summary
Oldham Family Practice is a well‑established practice serving a weighted list population of around 4,200 patients based within the Oldham Central locality. We are seeking to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive team for 6 sessions a week. Our practice has a strong ethos of continuity of patient care, teamwork and peer support, and works in areas of high deprivation committed to tackling health inequalities.
We have face‑to‑face and online clinics, home visits, same‑day care and routine appointments. GPs have admin time structured into the working day. Appointment requests are managed via a structured total triage model, primarily managed by a dedicated clinician with administration support. Our practice also hosts a GP trainee programme.
Main duties of the job
* Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract, additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
* Provide other personal medical services to meet identified patient needs.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems whether self‑referred or referred from other healthcare professionals within the organisation.
* Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice: disease management protocols, provide counselling and health education.
* Work within current ICB policy for prescribing.

Person Specification
* Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975; a submission for Disclosure to the DBS is required to check for any previous criminal convictions.
* UK Registration: Applicants must have current UK professional registration.
Experience

Professional Standing & Other Requirements
* Not prohibited from providing services due to regulation breaches (e.g., NHS Performers Lists Regulations).
* Not suspended from practice by the NHS or from the GMC's list of medical practitioners.
* Not subject to any interim suspension orders from the GMC under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983.
* Have the legal right to work in the UK.
* Hold appropriate medical indemnity insurance covering all professional duties.
* Successfully complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
* Be willing to engage in ongoing professional development as required.
Qualifications
* Registration and Certification:
o Included in NHS England list of medical practitioners per section 91 of NHS Act 2006.
o Hold full registration with the GMC on the General Practitioner Register.
o UK Registration.
o Applicants must have current UK professional registration.
