A client within the Public Sector based in Cambridgeshire is currently recruiting for a Environmental Health Officer (Pollution Control) to join their Environmental Protection Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within an Environmental Protection environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role
To take a leading professional role on all aspects of pollution control, statutory nuisance, animal welfare, pest control and dog warden services, ensuring statutory compliance and contributing to the effective performance management of the Environmental Protection function.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Leading on Local Authority Pollution Prevention and Control (LAPPC), including permit reviews and inspection programmes
• Managing and progressing Local Air Quality Management duties in line with statutory guidance
• Investigating statutory nuisances and enforcing Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Public Health legislation
• Preparing and serving statutory notices and leading enforcement action, including case preparation for legal proceedings
• Supervising officers and contractors responsible for animal welfare licensing, stray and dangerous dogs, and pest control services
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A Degree in Environmental Health or a related discipline
• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH)
• A full UK Driving Licence
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience in atmospheric pollution and statutory nuisance enforcement
• Supervisory experience within a local authority setting
• Strong report writing skills, including preparation of technical and enforcement reports
• Experience gathering evidence and preparing legal case files
• Knowledge of contaminated land, air quality legislation, and animal welfare standards
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £50 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £39 per hour PAYE).
