Job Title: Lead Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA)
The Lead Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) will oversee the Advocating for Education and Quality Improvement (A-EQUIP) model within the maternity department. This model promotes continuous improvement, building personal and professional resilience, enhancing quality of care, and supporting registered midwives in appraisal and revalidation. The goal is for this model to become an integral part of everyone's daily responsibilities across the system.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide a supportive function
2. Support professional resilience
3. Assist midwives in delivering high-quality care and identifying improvement areas
4. Support the advocacy role of midwives
5. Develop strategies to invest in midwives
6. Implement flexible local strategies
7. Support without creating additional financial pressures on providers
Additional duties include supporting on-call responsibilities within the community team or maternity unit.
Work as an experienced practitioner to ensure standards of practice, support a safe, quality service, and meet the needs of women and their families, referring to other professionals and agencies as appropriate.
Collaborate with Maternity Team Leaders to deliver efficient and effective maternity care within available resources, meeting standards, objectives, and statutory requirements.
