About the role
This is a unique role for a senior radiographer in the radiotherapy department, caring for patients and supporting students at both Health Sciences University (HSU) and the university hospital (UHD). The role splits time equally between the two institutions.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high‑quality radiotherapy treatment and planning of patients on the units as prescribed by the Clinical Oncologist.
* Recognise when senior staff advice is required and take appropriate action.
* Coordinate practice placement allocations in collaboration with both organisations.
* Onboard HSU students and design/deliver inductions to enrich the student experience.
* Work in partnership with the therapeutic radiography team to deliver training programmes and assess competencies in practice.
* Participate in the delivery of clinical simulation and professional development education and training.
* Supervise students on the units.
* Provide first‑line advice for patients undergoing radiotherapy and signpost to relevant support services.
* Use all equipment available in the assigned area to provide information, education, practical, and emotional support to patients and carers during their radiotherapy episode.
* Support the development of clinical skills, knowledge and attributes of students through professional education and teaching.
* Maintain high practice care standards in line with Trust and HSU expectations, carrying a portfolio of work in line with organisational risks and priorities.
