 
        Job Title: Graduate Actuarial Analyst Location: Manchester Markerstudy is a leading provider of private insurance in the UK, insuring around 5% of the private cars on the UK roads, 20% of commercial vehicles and over 30% of motorcycles in total premium levels of circa £1.2b. The majority of business is written as the insurance pricing provider behind household names such as Co-op, Sainsbury’s, O2, Halifax, AA, Saga and Lloyds Bank to list a few and Markerstudy also has a large and growing direct presence in the market as well. Role Overview To provide actuarial and data analytical analysis to support the relevant department to deliver their objectives. To deliver assigned pieces of work as directed. Responsibilities To provide actuarial and analytical support in accordance with agreed guidelines and methodology in order to allow the department to deliver their objectives. To undertake quality assurance of analyses and calculations undertaken within the assigned team for internal review. To support the production of information and analyses for presentation to internal and external stakeholders. Provide data to colleagues within the Actuarial function and from across the business. Develop skill of providing viable options / recommendations to managers. Respond to queries from the business subject to approval of more senior colleagues. To challenge and make improvements where appropriate to existing methods, processes, procedures and documentation. Check, validate and test data including that presented by colleagues and from MI. Develop skills to undertake highly technical / complex analysis using actuarial techniques. Participate in project activity as required. Monitor compliance with controls and procedures within the team. Delivering to deadline / project plans. Driving personal development as appropriate. To undertake other reasonable responsibilities and projects as instructed by their line manager. Where applicable, to adhere to Company processes with regard to FCA compliance and Treating Customers Fairly Where applicable, to ensure that DPA, FCA, TCF and other regulatory requirements are met. Essential Skills Graduate level position – no prior direct experience required. Where required in role, part qualified IFoA Technical knowledge – ability to design appropriate tools and systems. Learn to understand how the business works and how the work we do fits into the ‘bigger picture’ of the organisation. Strong listening skills Highly motivated to develop skills to perform job to high level Strong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to effectively time manage own workload Ability to display adaptability and agility in response to evolving requirements of work Good level of computer literacy with good understanding of both Microsoft packages Desirable Skills 1ST or 2.1 degree in mathematical or scientific discipline or equivalent experience. Minimum B grade in ‘A’ Level maths or equivalent. Has a good understanding of Insurance products. Interpersonal skills and self awareness – proactive in seeking out development opportunities Ability to develop strong business relationships Experience in SAS / SQL or VBA to manipulate data and drive report
