Role Overview
As a Band 5 Registered Nurse or Paramedic, you’ll work alongside Emergency Practitioners to triage and treat patients presenting with minor injuries and illnesses. You’ll use Manchester Triage to assess patients and ensure their safety while waiting. The MIiU sees 50–65 patients daily and operates 7 days a week from 08:00 to 20:00. You’ll be part of a highly skilled team delivering urgent care in a fast‑paced, patient‑focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Triage patients using Manchester Triage protocols
* Maintain safety and flow of patients awaiting assessment
* Deliver evidence-based care in collaboration with Emergency Practitioners
* Work a full range of shifts, including weekends and evenings
* Participate in service development and training opportunities
* Engage in personalised care conversations to support patient‑centred outcomes
* Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Required Skills and Experience
* Current UK professional registration (NMC or HCPC)
* Acute or urgent care experience
* Post‑registration clinical experience in ED, MIiU, or urgent care settings
* Familiarity with Patient Group Directions (PGDs)
* Evidence of professional development
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Commitment to Trust values and patient‑centred care
* Experience in MIiU or Emergency Department
* Manchester Triage training
* Teaching and assessing qualification
