About Enterprise Strategy
Enterprise Strategy is the internal consulting division that works directly with the CEO, the executive team and senior leaders to provide thought‑leadership and an external perspective on the company’s most important strategic priorities. The team builds deep subject‑matter expertise and leadership skills in stretch roles, unlocking the full potential of high‑potential colleagues and preparing them for key leadership positions across the business.
How you will make an impact
* Lead strategy projects from inception to delivery, primarily around growth strategy to drive long‑term success and innovation.
* Own problem‑solving for high‑profile initiatives: scope, structure, analyze, and present recommendations to senior leaders.
* Manage a team of 3‑5 consultants, structuring workstreams, conducting complex analyses, and creating high‑impact presentations.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders and C‑suite executives to drive initiatives that strengthen American Express’s leadership position.
* Mentor and develop direct reports, overseeing performance management and fostering their long‑term growth.
* Serve on the Enterprise Strategy London Leadership Team, contributing to a culture of diversity, mentorship, and a balanced lifestyle.
Minimum Qualifications
* 5+ years of consulting experience at a leading firm, including 6 months‑to‑1 year of formal project leadership.
* Deep exposure to growth strategy (M&A / PE commercial diligence experience is highly regarded).
* Strong problem‑solving skills and business acumen, demonstrated by the ability to “lead with the answer” and drive initiatives forward.
* Excellent project management, stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Experience coaching junior team members on consulting deliverables, workstream management and presentation.
* Track record building lasting client relationships and delivering high‑impact consulting work.
* Ability to lead, motivate, develop and mentor a diverse team.
