Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
As a clinical nurse specialist, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day care for people with cystic fibrosis and the provision of specialist nursing advice. You will practice autonomously as a core member of the multidisciplinary team and demonstrate high level clinical skills for inpatient, outpatient and community‑based patients. This will include assessment during and on completion of a course of intravenous antibiotics, port flushes, lung function testing and blood tests. The successful applicant will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to network across organisational and professional boundaries. You will need to demonstrate flexibility, the ability to adapt to change and the ability to work autonomously within the multidisciplinary team. You will have a proven track record in acute care and be able to demonstrate effective leadership/managerial skills to enable you to prioritise and deliver agreed objectives within the service. The service operates from 0900-1700 Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays and the successful candidate would usually be expected to work four days 0800-1800. You will need to have access to a car or the ability to travel for community visits and remote clinics across the Wessex region. Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
* Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
* Degree qualification or equivalent 120 credits at L6
* Post registration qualification within area of speciality or equivalent experience.
* Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies
* Provide evidence of supporting/ managing a range of learners in practice
* Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice
* Extensive post registration experience within specialist area
Desirable criteria
* Registered on MSc Pathway – completion of HTPA Competencies
* Counselling qualification
* Palliative care course
* IT training
