We've gone from 0 to 400+ customers in under 18 months, with strong signs of product-market fit and a big mission: to make heat pump installations faster, easier, and more scalable across the UK. Now we're looking for a Product (UX/UI) Designer to join our team of 10 and drive the next phase of growth.
About Spruce
* Almost 20% of the UK's carbon emissions come from heating homes. Achieving net zero requires phasing out gas and oil boilers. Heat pumps are a serious alternative, capable of turning 1 kW of electricity into 3-5 kW of heat. However, the installation process is slow and painful, making it difficult for installers to grow and deterring gas engineers from starting heat pump installations.
* We're building a platform to manage the entire heat pump installation journey, from initial enquiry to compliance paperwork, helping installers focus on quality, customer service, and growth. Since early 2024, we've been impacting installation businesses, suppliers, and manufacturers across the UK by halving job times, doubling sales conversion rates, and increasing profitability.
* With additional investment, we're scaling our team to expand our impact. Our vision is to create an operating system for the home renewables supply chain, akin to ServiceTitan, Procore, and AutoCAD.
Requirements
The Role
You will be central to transforming a slow, complex process into an intuitive, enjoyable experience for installers. Your daily responsibilities include:
* Making complex decisions feel effortless by designing for complex calculations, fluid dynamics, and compliance requirements.

* Building systematic, scalable design systems with reusable components across platforms and for low-tech users.
* Partnering with product managers, customer success, and sales to understand feedback, prototype, and validate design solutions.
* Collaborating closely with developers to understand data structures and technical constraints for seamless implementation.
About You
We're seeking a designer with 3+ years of product/UI design experience, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment. You are:
* A systematic thinker who enjoys tackling complex flows.
* Comfortable with technical details and new domains.
* User-obsessed, eager to solve real-world problems and make an impact.
* Confident in conducting user research and engaging with customers.
* Proactive, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects.
Bonus points if you've worked on tools for field teams, low-tech users, or operational workflows.
