We have a vacancy for a Senior Pharmacy Assistant to work in our busy and friendly department.
This position is based in Winchester, however there is occasionally a requirement to work across sites.
We are looking for you to accurately dispense in-patient, discharge, and out-patient prescriptions, supporting patient flow in a fast-paced environment.
Prioritisation skills are valued and personal development is encouraged and supported.
You will need to possess an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent), and all applicants must have excellent communication skills, be flexible and be able to work accurately under pressure.
A good level of English and Maths (GCSE level or equivalent) and computer skills are essential. Physical fitness is required as there is some manual handling involved.
Main duties of the job
To accurately dispense (including generation of labels) in-patient, discharge, and out-patient prescriptions.
To answer telephones promptly and politely, dealing with queries, relaying complete and accurate information.
To recognise self-limitations and refer to an appropriate person when required.
To dispense controlled drugs.
To receive out-patient prescriptions in the dispensary.
To hand to the patient or carer, out-patient prescriptions if deemed appropriate by the Responsible Pharmacist.
To be responsible for the accurate input of data into the pharmacy JAC computer systems for all duties requiring its use (labelling, returns etc.).
To dispense cytotoxic medicines following COSHH regulations. To produce consistently reliable and accurate work in a timely manner.
To perform general housekeeping duties within the dispensaries including cleaning dispensary equipment and ensuring that there are sufficient quantities of sundry items available.
To contribute to the quality improvement of the pharmacy service contributing to audits, practice changes and reviews of the processes.
To achieve objectives agreed at Individual Performance Review with line manager.
