Overview
R1 - Advanced Practice Physiotherapist - ED and FNC role at NHS Ayrshire & Arran. This position involves autonomous expert clinical practice in a clinical specialist setting, managing a caseload of highly complex patients through physiotherapy assessment, treatment planning and discharge. The post also focuses on introducing new approaches to physiotherapy access and process, emphasising health promotion and self-management, and providing expert support and education for physiotherapists, health professionals, relatives and carers within and beyond the service.
Responsibilities
* The post holder will be an autonomous expert clinician working in a clinical specialist setting, managing a clinical caseload of highly complex patients through expert physiotherapy assessment, treatment planning and discharge.
* Introduce new approaches to physiotherapy access and process, increasing the focus on health promotion and self-management.
* Provide expert support and education for physiotherapists, health professionals, relatives and carers within and outside the service.
* Liaise with and refer to other social and health services to provide comprehensive patient management and optimise outcomes.
* Maintain and improve all aspects of clinical governance, evidence-based practice and quality assurance in the service area in conjunction with the care group lead.
* Implement research and audit to develop a service that responds to national initiatives, policies and clinical governance.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Registered Physiotherapist with valid HCPC Registration
* Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level
* Postgraduate expertise within specialty/area of practice demonstrating breadth of knowledge to lead safety, effectively and efficiently
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the specialty
* Advanced specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures in the specialty/area of practice to deliver leadership
* Evidence of application of advanced practice skills in the specialty and clinical judgement
* Evidence of further developed knowledge and experience in management and/or leadership
* Continuous Professional Development in the area of specialty (study days/courses/postgraduate qualification)
* Excellent team-working/leadership skills; ability to motivate, influence and work on own initiative
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills; effective time management
* Working knowledge of basic information technology

Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Acute Central within University Hospital Wishaw. The working pattern will be discussed at interview. Applicants shortlisted for interview may be considered for similar vacancies in alternative locations.
