Working Pattern: 195 days per year (term time plus INSET)

Sir John Nelthorpe School is seeking to appoint a committed and highly organised Sixth Form Progress Coordinator to join our dedicated Sixth Form team. This is a key role supporting students’ academic progress, attendance, behaviour, and personal development, working closely with teaching staff and the Director of Sixth Form.

The successful candidate will provide both pastoral and administrative support, helping students to access a differentiated curriculum and ensuring that high standards of engagement, attendance, and behaviour for learning are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support and Progress

* Assist in the planning, delivery and assessment of the differentiated curriculum under the direction of the teacher and Director of Sixth Form.
* Support individual students or small groups to access learning activities, including assisting with the planning and evaluation of learning.
* Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Individual Behaviour Plans.
* Monitor attendance and follow up non-attendance, including recording lesson attendance using SIMS.
* Promote positive behaviour and attitudes to learning through effective relationships with students.
* Participate fully in agreed behaviour strategies, including physical interventions where required.
* Supervise students during lessons when the teacher is temporarily absent, during transitions between lessons, on arrival at school, and before departure.
* Supervise students in one-to-one or small group activities away from the main teaching area.
* Share concerns and positive feedback regarding students’ welfare and achievements with staff, parents and external professionals.

Sixth Form and School Support

* Assist with the promotion of the Sixth Form at events such as open evenings.
* Support the organisation and administration of trips, visiting speakers and careers events.
* Follow First Aid procedures, administer first aid where appropriate and contact parents as required.

Administrative and Clerical Support

* Provide effective clerical and administrative support to the Sixth Form and wider school.
* Prepare learning materials as directed by teaching staff.
* Type letters, emails, memorandums and minutes of meetings.
* Prepare and respond to routine correspondence and enquiries from staff, students, parents and external agencies. Maintain accurate student records both electronically and manually.
* File, retrieve and archive information securely, including handling confidential material from external agencies.
* Maintain administration diaries and arrange appointments, liaising with external agencies as needed.
* Service internal meetings with parents and outside agencies at the request of the Director of Sixth Form.
* Use office equipment including photocopiers and other standard systems.

Professional Responsibilities

* Undertake all duties in a conscientious and effective manner.
* Maintain accuracy and meet predetermined deadlines.
* Ensure that actions taken do not impede the efficiency of the school.
* Work collaboratively as part of the Sixth Form and wider school team.
