Summary
We currently have a vacancy for an operative at Level 1 working an 8-hour daily shift, 5 days per week (7.30 to 16.00 [30 minutes unpaid break]) in the Packing Hall Low Care Area. The role involves working 1 week on, 1 week off so 26 weeks per year will be rota'd.
The ideal candidate will work as part of a team under the Line Chargehands to carry out the daily production plan by performing routine packing line tasks including packing wrapped portions into cardboard boxes and SRP's as customer needs dictate and hand stacking finished cases onto pallets.
The ideal candidate will need to work within the company policies and procedures and be flexible and adaptable.

Purpose:
To assist General Manager Packing and Packing Manager to complete packing schedules/Production plans efficiently ensuring all aspects of pack integrity and food safety are met.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
1. To ensure safe and timely packing of all the different sized portions of cheese.
2. Liaise with Line Chargehands, Packing Manager and/or General Manager Packing as to daily Line placement and production plans.
3. Inspect, check and reject product where necessary to all the company instructions, policies and guidelines.
4. Work in a safe manner both personally and with other team members ensuring safe working practices and health and safety guidelines are always followed and all other internal policies are adhered to.
5. Carry out any other duties requested from time to time by the Line Chargehands, Packing Manager and/or General Manager Packing and to undertake work that you are able to complete as reasonably requested by Line Chargehands, Packing Manager and/or General Manager Packing or other section manager.
6. Report any non-conformances/machine faults/issues with cheese/incorrect coding details to Line Chargehand or Quality Control Operative.
7. Ensure correct personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn in High Care/Low care packing areas.
8. Willing to work in other departments within your level of competence, to meet the needs of the business.
9. To carry out any other work or task determined to be within your level of competence, to meet the needs of the business.
10. Working within all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Food Safety, Authenticity, Legality and Quality Standards.
High Care Stations
Infeed conveyor:-
· Align all portions in correct orientation, ensuring they are straight and correctly positioned for the flow-wrapper;
· Check weights as each portion travels over the cheese cutting checkweigher and reject into offcut bin any out of specification portions;
· Inspect cheese for appearance, aroma and texture stopping the line and calling Line Chargehand/Quality Control Operative/Head Cheese Grader for any cheeses considered poor quality;
· Ensure machine speeds of up to 90 packs per minute are met;
· Remove trim bins, collate cheese and take to offcut station to weigh, label and date;
· Clear in a timely manner all reject bins to ensure portions are stripped and re-packed through the production line or stripped into offcuts and taken to offcut station to weigh, label and date.

Low Care Stations
· Pack individual portions into crates/cases as detailed in customer specifications;
· Check coding details on printed film and/or printed labels and reject any portions deemed out of specification;
· Where necessary weigh cases to agreed tolerances;
· As final point of call before customer receipt, reject any product poorly sealed or portions that have debris in pack seals into the reject bins in readiness for removal from line;
· Stack finished products onto appropriate pallet (Blue GKN, Standard White, Heat treated White, Standard Euro) as detailed in customer packing specifications;
· Record completed pallets, ensuring time, date and pallet number labels are applied to all pallets;
· Remove pallets from packing hall using manual hand pallet trucks (care must be taken whilst manual handling in this area).
